Cheshire Homes - Durban

Grant - R 50 000

project_CheshireHomesCheshire Homes-Durban assists people with disabilities regardless of their colour, race or creed, by providing the conditions necessary for their physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

Cheshire Homes runs 5 residential facilities in Chatsworth (Durban) including a Home which accommodates 39 children with profound disabilities and Homes which provide for communal living for 20 residents and independent living for 38 residents with disabilities.

In addition to residential accommodation for children with profound disabilities Cheshire Homes conducts community- based programmes for child development. This includes the Qhakaza Cheshire Early Learning Centre which serves an informal settlement of 2500 people and where 55 children learn and develop in a nurturing, secure, caring, peaceful and happy environment.

The Centre provides a vital service and Iqraa Trust’s grant of R 50 000 enabled the Centre to continue to sustain its activities.
