St Lukes Hospice

Donation – R 155 000 For The Training Of Caregivers

St Lukes Combined Hospice was established some 27 years ago and provides palliative care for terminally ill patients (including HIV and AIDS patients through its 12 hospices and 15 branches.

St Lukes Hospice has extended its operations to the disadvantaged predominantly Black areas in South Africa. The Hospice treated some 2068 patients, admitted 815 to its wards. A further 53 492 patients visited the Hospice and its branches.

In recognition of the growing need for home-based care for the terminally ill the Hospice has launched a program to train more palliative and home-based caregivers.

Training of Palliative Caregivers

Iqraa Trust is provided funding totaling R 99 000 over a two year period for the training of 22 persons as palliative caregivers.


Training of Home-based Caregivers

An amount of R 56 000 was made available for the training of 35 home-based caregivers.

Assisting Students Financially by Providing Interest Free Loans and Bursaries
