National Conference
Iqraa Trust held a National Conference at the Southern Sun Elangeni Hotel in Durban to improve the performance of all humanitarian organizations in South Africa, particularly the Muslim organizations through exchanging experiences of best practice and corporate governance.
The conference was attended by delegates from various faith-based organizations Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Hindus and prominent representatives from the government such as the Premier of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Mayor and City Manager of eThekwini.

Described as a sharing of wealth and knowledge
the objectives of the conference were as listed below:

To evaluate and enhance the role of the Muslim Community and humanitarian organizations in the social upliftment and development of the needy in the society.

To promote partnerships between NGO’s and government departments. The conference has discussed many humanitarian projects that are being reviewed now with the objective of implementing them on a partnership basis.
An amount of R3 million was dedicated by the Iqraa board of trustees to kick off these projects.
Many informative presentations and research were presented during the conference covering wide issues like corporate governance, best practices, sustainability of organizations, poverty alleviation, women empowerment, and corporate social responsibility.
